Meet your rd, ra's and lords
Welcome to the freshman pages. If you are moving into heemstra this fall for the first time, welcome to the brotherhood. We look forward to meeting you. Since heemstra is a dorm steeped in tradition, lore, and mystery, rumors always abound – some good, other bad. The hope of these pages is to give you a little heads up before you come here in order to ease any apprehension and develop a sense of intrigue.

Feel free to wander around the website. Some stuff might not make a whole lot of sense unless you live here or at least attend NWC. The freshman pages, however are designed with you in mind. You can access them via the buttons to the left. There was also an article about heemstra written last winter in the NWC alumni magazine, The Classic, Vol. 78, No. 4 page 8-11.

Each dorm on campus is unique, with a different culture, feel, and experience. As for us, we’re a close group of guys, and even though we have different backgrounds, experiences, beliefs, interests, pet peeves, and dreams, we enjoy hanging out together, participating in traditions together, eating together, pulling pranks together, playing games together, worshipping together, and solving the world’s problems together during late night conversations. We won’t lie, we all know of other guys in the dorm that get under our skin, but even the closest of families have their moments.

We choose to keep living here, year after year, because we enjoy the community. We like being on the adventure of life together. The frustrations of living together in a small building don’t compare to all the positive aspects. A majority of guys who begin their time at NWC in heemstra end up living here for all four years. It’s what makes heemstra unique among college dorms, and is what creates a sense of tradition and brotherhood that you won’t find many other places on earth. It’s true that every guy is different, and not everybody would enjoy living here, but we’re pretty sure that if you give this place a chance, you’ll be proud to be a heemstrite by the end of September!

If you have questions, feel free to contact the RD or any of the RA’s. Their information is on the “people” page.
