For those of you who have never had the opportunity to live in heemstra, you may not be aware that we have a mascot.
However, if you’ve ever strolled the halls of our dorm, you undoubtedly saw him hanging on a door. You probably thought nothing of it – maybe you didn’t even notice him. He may seem a bit-out-of-place, or look a little shabby, but he symbolizes all that we hold near and dear to our hearts. He symbolizes the spirit of heemstra and his presence marks the rooms in which that spirit resides. Tradition has it that each Sunday night, t-metric moves to a new door and hangs himself there in order to proclaim to all those who pass on by that, “In this room! This room on which whose door I hang! Herein this room resides men who embody the spirit of heemstra!”

While t-metric would love to share long tales and stories with those who stop and give him their time and attention, he tends to be a bit shy in large crowds and gets awkwardly uncomfortable around girls. In fact, he rarely ever speaks in public. But he finds that posting his thoughts on the internet is a safe way to express himself, and to let the world know where he is living and why.

And for those of you who may think its funny to steal our mascot…just remember…he’s just a friggin’ tire. We can get another one.
